Guidelines for “DIGITAL IDENTITY”
FATF – Financial Action Task Force circulated detailed guidelines for “DIGITAL IDENTITY” in March 2020, regards to the same, the UAE regulators conducted a virtual outreach session on its new AML/CFT Guidance on Digital Identification for Customer Due Diligence to encourage the use of technology for improving the security, privacy, and convenience of identifying people remotely for both onboarding and conducting transactions. Digital identity verification has become an important part of customer onboarding after the covid 19 crisis. Regulators accept methods such as biometric verification, digital ID document, and face recognition to help financial institutions (FIs), Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs), and companies to verify the identity of a person online.
